Understand the ingredients of our 100 % natural toothpaste

We will start by telling you a little secret ... We had started to build our oral care line from the beginnings of Lilikiwi in 2019. Only, we needed several years of work to finalize them. Toothpaste is a daily hygiene product, of course, but it is above all an ultra -important health product. Particularly important in children who are only making their teeth whether they are final or not yet ... In this article, we reveal our projects for the quenots of your petty little ones and especially the ingredients that make up the formulas of our toothpaste ! So push with us the door of our laboratory, and come and discover that we have no secrets ...

A range of oral care 100 % natural origin for children

Several fluorine dosages

Our plan A was to create two fluorine dosages in our 100 % natural origin for children.

If you want to know more about fluorine, we tell you about it much more in this article.

We therefore planned to create a dosage of 1000 ppm for children aged 3 to 6, and a dosage at 1450 ppm for children over 6 years of age, according to UFSBD recommendations.

Finally, we also created a toothpaste dosed at 500 ppm for the very young.

Several aromas of children's toothpaste:

It all started with an observation: when it comes to aromas of children's toothpaste, we find almost exclusively: strawberry, raspberry, grenadine, in short, pink.

To summarize, we find this world of flavors a little too homogeneous, and in the country of gastronomy, we find that squarely a shame.

Suddenly, we decided to call on our contacts in French high pastry shop to delight the taste buds of our little stingy and make them want to take care of their quenots!

We currently offer Mint-Coco, to imitate the freshness of the toothpaste of large, and apple, a compote way for a gentle brushing.

We work the following flavors for the rest: raspberry-litchi, and banana-vanille.

The ingredients of our 100 % natural original formula

For the formulation, you start to know each other, we leave nothing at chance we have worked in collaboration with dentists on a formulation to protect the oral health of your little stingy.

Aqua (ultra pure water)

To make a liquid toothpaste, we need water, water (do you have the reference?)

But above all, we need this ultra pure water so that fluorine fulfills its role and operates properly. Yes, for it to work, fluorine must go into "Ion" mode and for that: it needs water, water! (sorry, we are a little heavy ...)

Of course, here we use sterile pharmaceutical grade water in our formulations.

Polyols: Xylitol, Sorbitol and Erythritol

We use these three “polyol” sugars so that our toothpaste can be used by children. These are "false sugars" which are therefore not cariogenic (yes, it would be a little counterproductive ...) and which are not favorable to the growth of bacteria.

The 3 polyols could be used as sweeteners in the food, but not in this toothpaste. Many people wonder: are we accustoming children to consume even more sugars? We explain to you below:

For conservation

Already, so that toothpaste is liquid, it necessarily contains water, and like water, it is life microorganisms love it.

Usually, children's toothpaste brands add preservatives (whether of synthesis or natural origin), only us, the conservatives, we say no. Even with a regulated limit, we do not want our children to swallow preservatives.

But how can we keep our products then?

Simply drawing inspiration from nature, of course! Using the “osmotic” method, without chemical preservatives. For example in a very sweet solution: it is the party for microorganisms, some use salt (as for hams).

But you will probably agree with us to say that brushing your teeth with brine is not terrible as an idea ...

Afterwards, there are the sweet solutions that retain itself, like honey, which was our inspiration for this toothpaste.

But how to create a non -cariogenic “honey” toothpaste? Well yes, generating cavities once again seems not very interesting for a toothpaste ...

This is why we have created this unprecedented mixture of our three polyols, to properly keep the toothpaste without having to add any curator (synthesis or natural origin).

Each of these polyols also offers a profit to preserve the teeth of our children.

Sorbitol

Naturally present in prune (between 10 and 20 %), we use it in our formulation for its liquid form, its viscosity. But also, as we saw above, for its major role in the conservation of the formula.

birch sugar

Xylitol

Also known as “birch sugar”, because it is naturally present in the juice of ... birch! (Bravo, we see that you follow.))

This non-cariogenic sugar is widely used in sugar-free chewing gums.

Also several brands of fluoride toothpaste use it by claiming its effectiveness against cavities.

Only, the benefits of Xylitol alone on cavities have never been solidly proven.

On the other hand, coupled with fluorine, Xylitol created a scientifically proven synergy which considerably improves its effectiveness. (1)

Erythritol

This one normally, you start to know him, we find him in several formulations at Lilikiwi.

Also non -cariogenic, this sugar comes from algae or mushrooms, we use it for its refreshing effect when it comes into contact with saliva: a little coolness in your mouth without having to use menthol which is good Sure for children.

erythritol

Cocoyl glutamate sodium

Ha This is the incomprehensible ingredient that you all expected, he is the best cleaning agent for oral care products.

Already, because it foams even in small quantities, but also because its taste is not as bitter as glucoside decyl, with our 3 polyol sugars we easily hide its taste.

Rapeseed organic glycerin

Normally, these ingredients also start to know them.

First, glycerin avoids drying the mouth and maintaining optimal hydration.

While the amino acid foam allows a gentle cleaning for a healthy mouth!

Xanthan gum and cellulose microcrystals

The xanthan gum and from fermentation and cellulose microcrystals come from micro wood waste.

We use them for the texture of our toothpaste: so that it flows well with our pen -shaped tube, but not too much.

The sodium fluoride

Finally, the thorny subject of fluorine that we have already spoken more ample in a first article. Note that sodium fluoride is the only fluoride source authorized by Ecocert. This is why, among other reasons described in the article, we have chosen it.

And now, our oral care products no longer have any secrets for you now! If you have a shadow area, do not hesitate to contact us at the address coucou@lilikiwi.fr or in private message on Instagram. We will be delighted to enlighten you: D
