We can all be allergic to a particular substance, but for several years, some have known some whose allergening potential is particularly asserted in cosmetics.
It is precisely with the aim of warning and protecting people sensitive to allergenic molecules that cosmetic regulations provide that 26 of them from perfume, essential oil and/or plant extract are declared in the list of ingredients of a cosmetics. As soon as they are present at more than 0.01 % in the products to rinse (shower gel, shampoo, etc.) and more than 0.001 % in products without rinsing (lotion, cream, etc.), allergens are allergens are more often at the end of the ingredient list. The 3 most common and known of them are: Limonene, Linalool and Benzyl Alcohol.
Conservatives
Besides these 26 allergens ‘Officials‘, there are also powerful allergens in the conservative family. Such as the methodyllisothiazolinone (MIT) and its cousin methodylchlorisothiazolinone (MCIT) which are used to replace the parabens. But, very quickly, dermatologists found that they are very powerful allergens especially by mixing the two. In March 2014, the Consumer Safety Safety Committee (SCCS) prohibited the products to rinse.
There is also a preservative widely used in organic cosmetics, benzyl alcohol, itself is an allergen (super).
Essential oils
It is forbidden to use essential oils for children before 7 years old. But we advise not to use them before 18 years old. Essential oils are concentrates of nature, ultra powerful and therapeutic. But like all active substances, there are also harmful side effects. Essential oils are often, photosensitizing, their composition is often unstable. There is almost no essential oil without allergens. Essential oils and the child is a big "no" for us.
Organic solar filters
In other words, chemical solar filters, including benzophenone-1, 3 and 4. Benzophenone's family are universal and effective solar filters, but there are many allergic people at Benzophenone. In addition, it is a molecule which is responsible for the whitening of the corals (1).
Sulfates
Yes, we don't like sulfates (see article) The family of sulfate itself is not an allergen, but sulfates burn and disturb the skin barrier of children and promotes the penetration of allergens into the depths of the skin. Flee as quickly as possible!
