What is a Biomimetic Formula?

First of all, the term "biomimetic" is derived from the combination of two words: "bio," meaning life, and "mimetic," meaning imitation.
A biomimetic cosmetic formula is therefore a product or skincare formula that imitates the natural composition of human skin. This means it is designed to mimic the skin's natural processes, using ingredients that are similar to those naturally found there. Why create a biomimetic formula?
The goal of a biomimetic formula is to create a product that is effective for skin care, while minimizing the risk of irritation or other undesirable side effects.
Our skin has its own defense mechanism, and in children, this system is still young and fragile.
It is essential not to use active ingredients with a structure too dissimilar to that of the skin, whether synthetic or natural, so as not to disrupt this defense system.
What are the advantages of a biomimetic formula?
It integrates more easily into the skin
The advantage of a biomimetic formula is that it is more easily assimilated by the skin.
For example, as mammals, the sebum produced by our skin, which serves to nourish it, has a very different composition from most vegetable oils. This is why when you apply a vegetable oil to your skin, you feel that penetration is difficult.
Indeed, our skin has difficulty integrating vegetable oils because they are rich in (poly)unsaturated fatty acid triglycerides, and our sebum is rather rich in wax (saturated fatty acid).
Lower risk of allergy
An allergy is our body's response when our immune system detects a foreign substance.
Our body detects these substances and triggers a reaction to destroy them: immune cells "swallow" allergens and burst, releasing inflammatory substances such as histamine.
This is how we end up with spots, rashes, or other allergic symptoms.
By using a biomimetic product, the risk of allergy is much lower because our body already "knows" this type of substance and is therefore less likely to react to it.
It is therefore quite naturally that we decided to use this formulation logic for our roll-on cream for children!
Two biomimetic ingredients we use to protect our children's skin
Ceramide NP:
First, ceramide NP are natural lipids found in human skin, making up 50% of its composition.
Indeed, they are essential for maintaining the good health of our skin barrier, which is responsible for protection against external aggressions and for regulating the skin's "hydration".
Usually, ceramide NP are of animal origin, particularly from beef brains or birds... Suffice it to say that this did not really align with our wishes for this 100% natural and vegan cream formula.
Synthetic ceramides exist, but the manufacturing process is heavy and polluting. So, in the interest of environmental preservation and energy saving, this is also not a viable option in our eyes.
That's why the ceramides we use in our formula come from yeast fermentation: we decided to leave our animal friends alone! However, we pay 300 times more compared to brands that still use animal-derived or synthetic ceramides.

Organic jojoba oil:
As already mentioned, vegetable oils do not easily integrate into the surface of our skin, because our skin barrier primarily contains waxes.
However, there is an exception: jojoba oil.
This oil has a rather waxy composition and therefore optimizes the penetration of our cream into the skin while nourishing it.
The 100% natural body and face cream for your children
By combining ceramide NP and organic jojoba oil, we have created a gentle and effective cream for children. Ceramide NP helps maintain the skin barrier, while organic jojoba oil deeply nourishes the skin and keeps it "hydrated."
By taking care of their skin from an early age, you can help prevent future skin problems and give them healthy, glowing skin.
How about a little freshness in the cream?
Indeed, we want to strengthen our children's skin barrier in the most natural way possible.
But not only that, we have added a particular sensoriality to this children's cream thanks to a third active ingredient: Erythritol, also known as algae sugar.
This ingredient offers incredible properties that are quite appropriate for this summer.
First, upon penetrating the skin, this sugar will absorb heat and provide a refreshing sensation that might remind you of menthol. But without the menthol, which is prohibited for young children ;)
Even better, this sugar will also retain moisture on the skin's surface, thus playing a very important role in hydrating the superficial layers of your skin, leaving it feeling very soft.
Precautions of use
This cream is not a reparative cream, so it is not suitable for damaged, irritated skin or skin with lesions.
Therefore, avoid using it in cases of sunburn, eczema flare-ups, etc.
We are currently working on a formula that will be more suitable for dry and damaged skin to soothe little crocodile skins.
Parents with combination or normal skin can also use this cream without any worries; after a stint in the fridge, it will be perfect for feeling light-legged this summer.
